Bike Florida 20th Annual Magical History Tour is a week-long mass bike tour that begins and ends in Palatka, FL. This bike tour takes riders through multiple host cities including Palatka, Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, Florida.
The tour consists of 4 layover days and 3 travel days. The tour will begin Saturday, March 22 and continue through Friday, March 28. The tour attracts up to 800 riders annually, and cycles through different parts of Florida each year. Proceeds from this tour will help support bike education in Florida schools as well as bike tourism in the state of Florida.
Tour Itinerary: BF20 The Magical History Tour will ride through Palatka the first 2 days, March 22 & 23. The next two days, March 24 & 25 the tour will go through Daytona Beach, as the second host city. On March 26 & 27 the BF20 tour will ride into St. Augustine, as the last host city. And on Friday, March 28, the last day, the tour will return to Palatka.
Each day of the tour will include special events, speakers, and meetings. The events in St. Augustine will include the 20th Anniversary Party and Fallen Cyclist Fundraiser from 5pm to 7pm on March 27. A-la-cart dinners will be available. Visitors can participate in this fun ride through Florida!
Tour Basics: The 2014 tour is 7 days long and includes both "layover days" and "travel days". A layover day is a day spent in one of our 3 host cities (Palatka, Daytona Beach and St Augustine). On these days several ride options are available, typically a 40, 60 and 100 mile ride. A travel day is a day spent riding between our host cities. Distances and routes on these days are the same for everyone. This system offers a lot of flexibility in the riding and allows cyclists to spend more time exploring our host cities if they wish. At minimum riders will have to ride 63, 54 and 40 miles to cycle between our host cities on the travel days. Miles ridden on layover days are more flexible, and up to the rider.
Each day's route is marked and signed with rest stops every 15 miles. There are also SAG vehicles on the route each day in case of emergency or mechanical trouble and there will be both riding and non-riding medical staff on tour. Each travel day riders' luggage will be transported to the next host city. Meals are not included in the tour price but can be purchased in advance for an additional fee.
Registration: The cost to participate is $120 for the 2-day tour and $395 for the 7-day tour. For more information or to register, contact Ken Foster at Bike Florida at [email protected] or call at (352) 224-8602. Please Visit Here for more information.
