Born William Apostol in Michigan, bluegrass performer, Billy Strings, had his initial musical exposure through his stepfather, Terry Barber. During this time, he crossed paths with Don Julin, a mandolin player from Traverse City, Michigan, and together, they began performing local gigs.
Recognized as a rising star by Acoustic Guitar in 2017 and honored as the Guitar Player of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2019, Strings has also made notable guest appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and PBS.
