The Castillo de San Marcos hosts a free-entry Holiday Open House, on Saturday, December 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event coincides with the Regatta of Lights and guests at the Castillo are invited to stand on the gun deck and view the lighted boats in the parade.
The Navy Band Southeast will perform merry holiday songs from the interior courtyard, while volunteers and staff present candle-light vignettes depicting the fort's history and the soldiers, sailors, marines, and civilians who lived there hundreds of years ago.
Navy Band Southeast has served the military and civilian communities in North Florida since 1995 from the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville.
The public is invited to attend this free Open House and learn more about the history of the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fortification in the United States.
