Center for Spiritual Living

St. Augustine, FL 32084
On Friday, February 7, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. A Classic Theatre presents Who Am I This Time, performed as a staged reading.
Staged Readings
A Classic Theatre presents four staged readings during the 2024/25 season. Each performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1795 Old Moultrie Road in St. Augustine.
Considered by some to be the "purest form of theatre," staged readings don't have sets, props, or light cues, and few or no costumes. The actors perform using a script and necessary stage directions are read to help the audience understand what is happening. The actors rehearse each program, focusing on the script and their delivery, to bring the playwright's work to life for the audience.
Who Am I This Time? (and Other Conundrums of Love)
We are so pleased to announce our next Staged Reading, Aaron Posner’s Who Am I this Time (and Other Conundrums of Love). A collection of Vonnegut’s romantic short stories (A Long Walk to Forever, Who Am I This Time? and Go Back to Your Precious Wife and Son), in a “play within a play” style of delivery. The three tales are spun together by a delightful narrator, Tom Newton (Anvar Gashimov), sweet musical interludes, and a captivating cast of characters.
Written by Aaron Posner, who wove together three early short works by Kurt Vonnegut to create this fully-formed and funny play about life, and the humans who make things interesting. The three stories are "Long Walk to Forever," "Who Am I This Time?," and "Go Back to Your Precious Wife and Son." The event is presented as a play within a play, the narrator, Tom Newton (portrayed by Anvar Gashimov) and musical interludes weave the stories together.
This production features a cast of students and alumni from the University of North Florida (UNF), presented in partnership with Dr. Maureen E. McCluskey a professor in the UNF Department of English. The student cast and crew include co-director: Naomi Shae Randolph; assistant director and stage manager: Zoey Zancara; sound designers: Shaelen Smith and Zoey Zancara; and musical director: Anvar Gashimov.
