Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour

Well after dark, during certain phases of the moon, the St. Augustine Lighthouse opens for a special history and ghost tour featuring true stories about the people who lived, visited, and worked at the lighthouse.

The tales also include information about those who died on the grounds and the ghostly encounters that have happened. This is the only regular tour that welcomes you into the lighthouse grounds at night and includes a climb to the top. Along the way, the guide shares the lighthouse's history, relating true tales of a ghostly presence.

Warning, in addition to being spooky, these tours are popular — you are strongly encouraged to book the tour while trip planning, before arriving in town.

Admission: $29.95 for all adults and youth, including seniors. $24.95 for children ages seven to 12. Children must be at least seven years old and at least 44 inches tall. They must be able to climb the lighthouse stairs on their own.

When: The days and times change with the seasons. In the winter, tours are generally available Fridays - Sundays, with at least one 90-minute tour each evening. Tours may start as early as 7:30 and the last tour could start as late as 10:45. Check their calendar for exact times and availability, and to purchase tickets.

Schedule for Planning:

• In June and July, the tours are offered at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays. There is no Dark of the Moon Tour on July 4.
• During other months, the tours are offered on Fridays through Sundays, with the first tour starting as early as 7:30 p.m. on some days, and with the last tour starting as late as 10:15 p.m. on other days.
• There is usually a Dark of the Moon Tour on Halloween.
• In the winter, tours are held on Fridays through Sundays, with extra tours on some school vacation weeks, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve.
