Flagler Forum: A Lecture with Howard Schneider on Fake News
(904) 826-8679 Historic Downtown
14 Granada St
St. Augustine, FL 32084
As part of Flagler College's Forum on Government and Public Policy, seasoned journalist and Stony Brook's Executive Director (Center for News Literacy), Howard Schneider, will present the lecture Fake News: We have Found a Solution and it is Us! on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 7:00 p.m., at the Lewis Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
A leader in journalism, Howard Schneider is a 35-year-veteran from Newsday where, under his editorial position, the newspaper gained eight Pulitzer prizes and was the first to transition online with a news website. He is now the Executive Director of the School of Communication and Journalism's Center for News Literacy where Schneider created the original course in news literacy.
Schneider's lengthy experience in journalism makes him an expert in the dramatic shift in which news is often told with a subjective twist. Schneider interprets the difference between legitimate versus biased news as well as offers a better understanding as to where the credible news can be found, and how these concepts in critical thinking can apply to real life situations.
Flagler College's Forum on Government and Public Policy brings nationally recognized journalists, commentators and speakers to St. Augustine to discuss issues at hand in regional, state and federal government. This forum has promoted intellectual talk about government and public policy for over 30 years at Flagler College.
