Florida Orienteering and The Florida Agricultural Museum will offer the Florida Orienteering Festival on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Orienteering is the sport of using a map and compass to navigate an outdoor course. The activity was originally a military exercise that originated in Sweden in the 1900s and came to the U.S. in the 1940s. Today, orienteering is a recreational activity for weekend hikers, outdoorsmen, and anyone who loves a good puzzle. To learn more about Florida Orienteering, visit here.
The event is suitable for all ages, and no experience is required to attend this event. Instructors will be on hand to help participants become comfortable using the map and compass.
Everyone is advised to bring water and sunscreen and wear suitable clothing to the event.
Admission: There is a $2 registration fee per person as well as map fees of $8 (discounted to $6 for Florida Orienteering members).
When: From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Where: The Florida Agricultural Museum is located at 7900 Old Kings Road in Palm Coast, about a mile south of I-95 on US 1 in Flagler County.
