The National Park Service presents a special day of cannon firings and boat tours at Fort Matanzas National Monument on Saturday, February 9, 2019. The firings and tours will take place hourly from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Colonial Spanish reenactors will be on hand to talk about the significant role Fort Matanzas played in St. Augustine history.
Guests should stop in the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center at 8635 A1A to collect their free boarding passes prior to each tour. Boarding passes are issued for the next available fort tour on a first come, first served basis, and cannot be reserved in advance. Tours last about 45 minutes.
Admission: FREE.
When: There will be six boat tours throughout the day of Saturday, February 9, 2019: at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. This event is weather permitting.
Where: Fort Matanzas is located on Rattlesnake Island and is accessible by a ferry ride. Free boarding passes for the ferry can be picked up at the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center and gift shop at 8635 A1A, about 15 miles south of St. Augustine.
