The First Annual Gamble Rogers Fest at Ponte Vedra brings the folk music of the Gamble Rogers festival in St. Augustine up to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall north of town.
The First Annual Gamble Rogers Fest at Ponte Vedra will feature food trucks, art booths, musical memorabilia, a raffle for a variety of treasures and a stunning concert lineup of live music. Live music performances include The Curry's, Flagship Romance, Wild Shiners, Carlos and Carlos, Amy Hendrickson, Sam Pacetti, The Rubies, The Willow Wacks, and Michael Jordan.
1:30 p.m. / The Willow Wacks
The Willowwacks are a heterosexual married couple who met at a university in the midwest and now live in St. Augustine, Florida. "We love a lot of different music, to the extent where a lot of the artist's we like probably don't care for a lot of the other artists we listen to. But, that's OK, because it's important to us that we remain diverse and fluid in the present music world". In the words of NPR's David Luckin "sit back and let the Willowwacks take you to a very nice place."
2:30 p.m. Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan moved to St. Augustine four years ago from Ashville, North Carolina. Upon arriving in St. Augustine he quickly established himself in the music scene using his unique "lap style" approach to playing the acoustic guitar. In the following years he has tromped around Florida sharing the stage with acts such as Sam Pacetti, Consider the Source and Triscapes. He will be featured at the Gamble Rogers Music Festival and the Florida Folk Festival in the spring of 2015.
3:30 p.m. / The Rubies
The Rubies are Lu and Savanah Rubino. Lu has a long history of success in the music business as a singer/songwriter heading up the well-known Christian rock band Storyside:b. Savanah is writing beautiful songs as well. Together they have a very creative and unique vocal blend that creates a rich vocal sound. They are a unique blend of voice and talent. Lu heads up the popular Fish Tank recording studio in St. Augustine. The Rubies were a big hit at last year's Gamble Rogers Music Festival.
4:30 p.m. / Sam Pacetti
Sam Pacetti is one of the great unknown talents in American acoustic music. A world class fingerstyle guitarist, he is an impassioned and ecstatic vocalist, and a deft songwriter capable of haunting depth and wry humor in the space of one song. A musical chameleon who winds between songs from the British isles , Bach and Baroque, traditional Americana as well as his own brand of renaissance poetic spirituals. In the tradition of Richard Thompson. Martin Simpson, Tony Rice and Bruce Cockburn, Sam delivers a unique style of musical amalgam, sardonic wit, and musical virtuosity.
5:30 p.m. / Amy Hendrickson
Amy Hendrickson is a St. Augustine native. She's been playing regionally for the last 13 years, touring, writing, and of course performing as much as she can. With a style that varies from singer songwriter to jazz ballads, Hendrickson is always evolving and pushing forward with her sound. She is the executive director of the Local Honey Project, which is producing a Documentary film and CD about St. Augustine's amazing music community.
6:30 p.m. / Carlos and Carlos
Carlos Silva and Carlos Odria, both originally from Peru, are acoustic guitarists who perform traditional and contemporary latin American styles. Their duo Carlos and Carlos incorporates different techniques and musical influences borrowed from Spanish, Mexican, Brazilian, Afro-Peruvian, Andean, and Afro-Carribean traditions. Through their crafted improvisations and arrangements of popular songs and original compositions, Carlos and Carlos explore new pan-latino sounds as well as their many intersections with other styles /rhythms from around the world.
7:30 p.m. / Wild Shiners
Wild Shiners is an energetic, acoustic Americana quintet whose live sets have been described as "face melting Americana" and "rock and roll with a banjo". Experimenting with arrangements within their own original songs, unexpected bluegrass classics, and interpreted covers of pop songs is a signature of their live performances which are known for being high- energy and improvisational. Recorded at Gatorbone Records, their self-titled EP of original material has garnered radio play around the southeast.
8:30 p.m. / Flagship Romance
Flagship Romance is the harmonic alternative folk duo consisting of the newly engaged couple Shawn Fisher and Jordan Jackson. Their dynamic performances are centered around their unique vocal blend. Since the release of their new album /DVD, Fee Fie Foh Fom, this duo has toured extensively throughout North America performing at house concerts, listening rooms, and folk festivals. Aligning their music career with the world wide water crisis, Flagship Romance are the proud founders and organizers of the Clean Water Music Fest, raising over $88,000 to give safe drinking water to people around the world.
9:30 p.m. / The Curry's
The Curry's have developed their brand of homegrown, harmony-rich Americana through summers of writing and performing on the Florida Gulf Coast. Brothers Jimmy and Tommy Curry and cousin Galin Curry began with acoustic performances in local restaurants and oyster bars, but over time the trio has gained a regional following, performing at festivals and venues around the southeast. In August,2012, The Curry's headlined a tour across Ireland which was the subject of a PBS documentary.
