Highly influenced by reports of a shipwreck on a nearby coastline back in '77, this band snagged the name of the vessel, which happened to be Gilberto. As the story goes, when the ship's cargo washed up on the beach, a fire started, possibly in an attempt to destroy potential evidence, and its herbaceous smoke made the islanders very happy. The community even renamed Ocean Avenue, to become Reefer Road.

With a vision of cross-genre entertainment, Gilberto '77 aims to bring their homeland and its characters into their act. Enjoying the fact that their sound is not easily categorized into specific genres, they blend bluegrass, funk, rock, country, and reggae. Playing their original sound through all-original music, Gilberto '77 never fails to energize crowds in the 32034 zip code and across the country. (By the way, 32034 is the zip code for Fernandina Beach!)

Gilberto '77, embracing local history, loves to recreate old times, to lift you up, and to lighten your mood, "like a sweet 1977 coastal breeze."
