The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall presents Leo Kottke in concert on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 8:00 p.m.
Raised by parents who moved around the country, Leo Kottke was first taught to play classical violin, and was introduced to a number of musical influences in his youth. He began playing guitar when he was 11, and was drawn to the country-blues found in Mississippi. After time in the Navy, aboard a diesel submarine, in 1964, Leo settled for a time in the Twin Cities, playing guitar at a popular coffee house. He was signed to John Fahey's Takoma label and released his second album, 6- and 12- String Guitar, which became known as "the Armadillo record" due to artist Annie Elliot's artwork on the cover.
Kottke's many awards include the coveted "Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone" from the University of Texas at Brownville.
