The Limelight Theatre will stage August: Osage County for four weeks rom Friday, February 25 to Sunday, March 20, 2022. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
A tragicomedy play by Tracy Letts, August: Osage County was the recipient of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play premiered at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago on June 28, 2007, and closed on August 26, 2007.
After two years on Broadway at the Imperial Theater and the Music Box Theatre, the Broadway show closed on June 28, 2009.
Set is Osage County, Oklahoma, the play follows the Weston family as the deal with loss and betrayals — both past and present.
A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you've got a major play that unflinchingly — and uproariously — exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.
