Beginning on Wednesday, March 6, the Peña Peck house presents a special exhibit: "The St. Augustine Friendship of Zora Neale Hurston and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings." The exhibit will be open to the public for free tours at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through March 30, 2024.
Ms. Rawlings and Ms. Hurston met when Ms. Hurston was teaching creative writing at Florida Normal. Both had achieved some acclamation as a writer: Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, an "upper-middle-class Yankee," had achieved more attention and great success for her book, The Yearling. Zora Neale Hurston, "the daughter of a slave," had just published Their Eyes Were Watching God.

When: Wednesdays - Saturdays, March 6 - 30, 2024. The museum is open from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. Tours are at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m.
