Piece Out: Pie Contest and Auction

On Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 (or when the pies sell), the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Pie in the Sky host a "Piece Out Pie Contest and Auction" on the front porch of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. This event coincides with the weekly Farmers Market.

Bakers—both local and visitors—must register in advance, and you can find registration forms here. The rules are simple: your registration must include the type of sweet or savory pie and a list of the ingredients. You may keep the recipe a secret or share it. The pie has to arrive at the market by 8:30 a.m. on March 15 and it must be in a disposable tin pie plate. Each baker may submit one pie for the contest. (If you love making pies, you may submit additional pies for the pie sale.)

The judges will remove one piece from each pie for judging, evaluating each on overall appearance, texture, crust, and flavor. An auctioneer will sell the top five pies (each with a piece out) to the highest bidders. Pie in the Sky and the St. Augustine Farmers Market will sell the rest of the pies by the piece.

There will be prizes, plus bakers and pie buyers get to help Pie in the Sky, a local non-profit that delivers fresh produce and healthy food to seniors in St. Johns County.

Admission: It's free to go to the market and there is no cost to enter a pie for the contest.

When: Saturday, March 15, 2025. Pie judging starts at 9:00 a.m. and the auction starts at 10:00 a.m.
