The Friends of the Corazon Cinema and the St. Johns County Public Library System present a new program in September called "Read a Film." The first installment will take place at the Corazon Cinema and Cafe as part of the open day of the Florida Heritage Book Festival on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

The book and movie that will be read, discussed, and screened is The Flamingo Rising, by Larry Baker. This movie was filmed in and around St. Augustine in 2000, and stars William Hurt, Elizabeth McGovern, and Brian Benben. The production included a number of local actors and residents in supporting parts.

The Friends of the Corazon Cinema will be selling copies of the book at the Corazon Cinema for $20 each. A portion of the proceeds will benefit some of the special programs offered by the Friends of the Corazon Cinema.

Admission: The movie showing is free. Due to limited seating, those who purchase books from the Corazon will have reserved seats. Remaining seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

When: Books are available beginning August 3, 2017, during regular operating hours of the Corazon Cinema (the cafe is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.). The film screening is at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Where: The Corazon Cinema and Café is located at 36 Granada St. in downtown St. Augustine.
