Romanza Festivale: The Dunehoppers

Romanza Presents ...
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Romanza Festivale presents the Dunehoppers for a concert in St. Cyprian's Church courtyard.
For more than 20 years, a version of the Dunehoppers has encouraged audiences to dance and clap as the band plays their mix of old bluegrass tunes and favorite folk songs, with a few originals tossed into the mix.
Every band member sings lead or intricate harmonies (depending on the song), and each delights in playing traditional bluegrass numbers in the traditional way. This band is one of a few local bands called to play their foot-stomping music at area contra dances. Like many local folk and bluegrass bands, members have moved in and out (and even in again) through the years as people move in and out of St. Augustine. Alan Hood, the leader of the band, has been constant. Alan plays fiddle, sings, and writes songs. Multi-instrumentalist Mike Elias plays guitar, Brian Lappin plays banjo, Bob Parsons is on mandolin, and Janine Rainville stands up with the bass.
Admission: Free
When: Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Where: The courtyard at St. Cyprian's Church. Bring your chair. Dancing is encouraged.
