Mama Blue, a favorite performer at Romanaza and elsewhere in Northeast Florida, presents a porch concert at the Markland House on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
This diminutive woman has a big voice and a bigger heart and sings jazz and blues, including classics such as "Georgia," songs from artists who inspired her, and her compositions. It has been said that Mama Blue sings about her life and that, in doing so, she sings about the lives of many. Her songs are inspirational and can project both joy and pain. In addition to her life and the lives of those she knows, Mama Blue has been inspired by Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Nina Simone, Queen, and the Rolling Stones.
A Jacksonville native, Mama Blue graduated from the Douglas Anderson School for the Arts and attended Jacksonville University, where she majored in vocal arts and drama. She performs frequently with a group of musicians and has been a featured artist in nightclubs, music events, and festivals in Northeast Florida and throughout the southeast.
This is an outdoor concert, and guests are invited to bring their chairs.
