Romanza Presents ...

On Friday, May 9, 2025, from noon to 1:00 p.m., the Romanza Festivale presents the Pinnacle Singers, who will perform from Puccini's Turandot at the Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine.

The four singers appearing on May 9 — baritone Torlef A. Borsting, soprano Cass Panuska, Soprano Ashley Nuñez, and tenor Giles Howe — now live in DeLand. Each has enjoyed an international career, and now shares their love of music and performing by creating special concerts in diverse genres.

Torlef A. Borsting is originally from Hawaii and has a strong career in concert, opera, and oratorio performances. Since moving to Florida, he has performed with the New York Opera and Opera Orlando. He co-founded The Pinnacle Singers with his wife, Cass Panuska, who first sang professionally in the San Francisco area. In addition to her performing schedule, Cass teaches voice at Stetson University.

Ashley Nuñez, a Cuban-American, has sung at the Miami Music Festival and with the San José Orchestra. Giles Howe has performed with Josh Groban and Idina Menzel and has been featured in shows such as The Twelve Tenors. Giles plays guitar and plays frequently as a solo act.

Turnadot, based on a legend from ancient China, is Puccini's last opera and has been considered his best. The Pinnacle Singers sing the score in English and have abridged the production to create a performance they feel shares the essence of this opera.
