The Matanzas Riverkeeper hosts Shuck for a Truck, oyster roasts to raise funds to help the Riverkeeper purchase a truck to haul the M/V Litter Gitter. The event will take place on three Fridays during the oyster season:

  • Friday, November 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday, January 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

All proceeds from the events will be used to help the Riverkeeper organization purchase a truck to haul their much admired and hard-working Litter Gitter.  Throughout the year, volunteers go out on the Litter Gitter to gather trash from the river's edge and estuaries. A strong working truck will let them travel to more locations.

Each Shuck for a Truck fundraiser will serve oysters shucked and roasted by a local expert accompanied by delicious side dishes. Enjoy the view from Genung's Fish Camp, chat with other folks who appreciate the river, and listen to live music.

Admission: $50.00 per person. Tickets are available in advance, here.

When: From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on three Fridays from November through February: November 15, 2024, January 17, 2025, and February 21, 2025.

Where: Genung's Fish Camp, 231 Cubbedge Road, St. Augustine, Florida 32080
