Sing Out Loud '24 Benefit Concert: Trampled by Turtles
(904) 209-0367The 2024 Sing Out Loud Festival presents a concert by Trampled by Turtles, with an opening set by the Crowe Boys, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Backyard Stage of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. In keeping with the tradition of presenting a benefit concert during Sing Out Loud, a portion of the proceeds from this concert will benefit the Sea Turtle Hospital at the Whitney Laboratory.
Trampled by Turtles is known for writing and performing new bluegrass tunes and adding a hint of contemporary rock into the music. Frontman and founder, Dave Simonnet, moved from rock to bluegrass after his gear was stolen and he was left with only his acoustic guitar. Several other musicians in Trampled by Turtles also played in rock and metal bands, before joining Dave's new project in 2003. Eamonn McLain joined the band in 2014, adding to their unique sound by playing cello and providing backing vocals.
In addition to Dave Simonette on guitar and vocals, fiddler Ryan Young and bassist Tim Saxhaug have rock backgrounds. They added more traditional bluegrass players Erik Berry on mandolin and Dave Carroll on banjo and have since released ten albums. The band has performed at Coachella and Lollapalooza and has toured with Deer Tick, Lord Huron, and Wilco.
The Crowe Boys come from a musical family and have performed together since they were very young. They work to focus their music on staying positive and sharing hope.
