Fort Matanzas Torchlight Tours

Please note: Because of damage to the dock system at Fort Matanzas National Monument during Hurricane Dorian, this tour has been cancelled.

Fort Matanzas National Monument offers Torchlight Tours on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 6:00, 6:45, 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. Each tour is limited to 30 people, and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Following a short nighttime ferry ride over to Fort Matanzas, visitors will enter into another time. The tour recreates the experience of life in the fort in the year 1743, where Spanish soldados manned the fort to defend the southern approach to St. Augustine. Each tour will include an 18th-century cannon firing demonstration.

Admission: Advance tickets are required for this tour. Due to the popularity of these Torchlight Tours, it may not be possible to purchase tickets on the night of the tour. Tickets are $15.00 per adult, $5.00 for children ages 5 to 15, and free for children under 5. Tickets will be available beginning two weeks prior to the event, and can be purchased at the ticket booth located at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine or over the phone by calling (904) 829-6506, ext. 239.

When: Tours depart at 6:00, 6:45, 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019.  All ticket holders must check in at the visitor center at Fort Matanzas 30 minutes prior to their tour time. They can pick up the tickets they have purchased at that time.
