Palmetto Pickers

Five talented, experienced musicians come together to create a new sound.

The Palmetto Pickers honor St. Augustine with a reprisal of familiar tunes and originals. One thing about a group of older musicians who form a new band—they have had time to accumulate a lot of years onstage. This country, rock, and blues band, The Palmetto Pickers, is a re-formed gaggle of experienced musicians who know how to please a crowd.

1963 and 1964 were tumultuous years in St. Augustine, with marches and sit-ins downtown, and wade-ins at the pools and the beaches. One of the largest wade-ins took place at St Augustine Beach in 1964. All these events and the local and national figures who participated in them helped move the country to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
