A Conversation with Lenny Foster at Crisp-Ellert Art Museum
(904) 826-8530Photographer Lenny Foster will hold a conversation about his work on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., in the Virginia Room at the Ringhaver Student Center, on 50 Sevilla Street. Foster, who lives in St. Augustine, has focused much of his photography on Black historical locations in the Oldest City, and he is the Artist-in-Residence at Flagler College's Crisp-Ellert Art Museum in February and March.
While Foster has photographed sites that have a significance dating back to St. Augustine's early history, he has a particular interest in the Lincolnville neighborhood. Recently, he has created a body of work called the "Porch Portraits," featuring revered residents of Lincolnville. The "hero" photo of this profile is of Janie Price, who was known as the "Housemother" of St. Augustine's Civil Rights movement in the 1960s.
Lenny Foster has owned galleries in Taos, New Mexico and St. Augustine since 1998. In addition to his work in St. Augustine, Foster's photographs include landscapes, and still life. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States. In St. Augustine, Lenny Foster's Gallery One Forty-Four is located at 144 King Street.
