Squirrel Nut Zippers: Jazz from the Back O' Town
On Saturday, April 12, at 10:00 p.m., Prohibition Kitchen hosts the Squirrel Nut Zippers, as they take you to New Orleans.
"Jazz from the Back O' Town" replicates the New Orleans jazz scene from the late 1800s to the Roaring Twenties and features music by Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong. The Squirrel Nut Zippers have created a show featuring music from the era, with some of their own iconic songs mixed in, arranged to celebrate the unique sound of New Orleans jazz from that era.
The Squirrel Nut Zippers formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, South Carolina, and performed their unique blend of Delta blues, gypsy jazz, klezmer, and swing music, releasing their hit single, "Hell" in 1996. After taking some years off, the original members reunited in 2007 and played gigs around the United States and Canada. They have released seven studio albums and their music can be heard on more than 25 television shows and films.
Admission: $45.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased here.
