The St. Augustine Ballet will present Alice in Wonderland on Saturday and Sunday, May 13 and 14, 2017, at Lewis Auditorium. This is an original production, described by St. Augustine Ballet Artistic Director Luis Abella as "an exciting mix of contemporary dance styles and eclectic music that will appeal to adults just as much as children."
The unforgettable characters of the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland are brought to life through original choreography by Emily Masson, fantastic costumes by Virginie Lorange-Woodward, and a brilliant color and light show designed by Robert O'Leary.
Carolyn Karger has produced the musical score, which contains elements of music from all over the world, including classical, jazz, steam punk, romantic, and North African percussion.
The complete cast of this St. Augustine Ballet production consists of 54 students from 26 schools, as well as the professional tap company Noise Complaint.
Harlow Hatin and Ella Wiompelberg will share the role of Alice, while Arianna Fleischman will play the White Rabbit and Devin Mantel will be the Cheshire Cat. Tap dance star and choreographer Jenne Vermes will dance the role of the Mad Hatter. The rest of the cast includes Kali Lee as the Queen of Hearts, Kiera Pheffer as the Duchess, and Grace Karger as the Caterpillar.
