EMMA Concert Association presents another in their series of free events, "Words and Music at the Waterworks," on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Pianist, Scott Watkins, is Professor of Piano at Jacksonville University. He also teaches, performs, and lectures at Beifang University's Conservatory of Music and Dance in China, where he holds the position of Visiting Foreign Scholar.

Originally from New York, Mike Hynes lived in Massachusetts before moving to Northeast Florida. Mike has performed in public since high school. He was a founding member of three bands from high school through the '90s, including THE CORE on Long Island with John Chowske.

In Massachusetts, he performed with Bill McElaney as an Irish duo, and later met fiddler, Dinah Mellin, teaming up with her to form a duo that plays Irish favorites, fiddle tunes, and pop rock. When Dinah visits Florida, Fiddlers Rock inevitably gets a gig or two.

The new indie-folk-rock band, Light The Wire, leapt out of Tampa recently, wowing audiences at venues across Florida. With three vocalists, a drummer, acoustic guitar, electric bass, and a fiddle, this band is making itself heard at festivals and listening rooms, bars and galleries, and is now slated to appear at the Colonial Oak Music Park in St. Augustine.

Apex Theatre Studio stages Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery in the Lewis Auditorium, 16 Granada Street, on Friday through Sunday, July 12 - 14, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. The show will run again on the last weekend in July on Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27, at 7:30 p.m.

Ken Ludwig is known for his comedic plays, such as Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo. In this hilarious take on Sherlock Holmes, five actors take the roles of 40 characters for an evening that's spooky, kooky, and funny—with mystery and magic.

Cade and the Palmetto Kickers are known for playing honky-tonk and familiar country songs with enthusiasm. They embody honky-tonk with a bit of humor and a whole lot of fun.

This generally six-piece, guitar-heavy band includes frontman, Cade Clayton, on guitar and lead vocals; Shane Copeland on guitar, banjo, and vocals; Sebastian Sky Shattles on guitar and vocals; Jordan Bosserman on drums, a tall bearded gentleman on stand-up bass, and Jim Mcmanus on the pedal steel.

Originally from Middleberg, Florida, Jonathan grew up in the church where his father, and musical mentor, was the music director. Jonathan took piano lessons from age six to 18 because his dad recognized his talents and wanted his music skills to flourish.

Having discovered country music as a young teen, Johnathan listened to Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, and Eric Church—largely because he enjoyed the stories they told.
