John Sebastian has been an integral part of the American music scene for the last four decades. He was the lead singer and songwriter of The Lovin' Spoonful, an American band that had seven singles in the Top Ten charts amidst Beatlemania. He was involved in Woodstock and the Isle of Wight festivals.
Sebastian wrote and recorded the theme song to the 1970s t.v. show Welcome Back Kotter. In the 90s, Sebastian formed the J-band, a contemporary collaboration celebrating his jug band heritage. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. In the late 2000s, Sebastian released an album of duets with David Grisman. He has influenced multiple generations of musicians.
